"I don't have big expectations.. I'd like him to be safe, fed and clean. But even that isn't done."

The Long Term Care Community Coalition is a federally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to providing a strong voice for individuals and families faced with dementia, nursing home and other long term care needs.  We didicate 100% of your tax-deductible donation to our mission to protect nursing home and assisted living residents.

LTCCC is one of very few organizations in the United States, and the only one in New York, wholly dedicated to monitoring care and improving quality of life and dignity for nursing home residents.

More than 70% of people over 65 will need long term care at some point in their lives.  Sixty percent of nursing home residents have Alzheimer's or other dementia.  Approximately 20% are given powerful antipsychotic medication every day, despite the "black box warning" that these drugs can be extremely dangerous, even deadly, for the elderly.

These numbers are stark and the challenges to getting decent care are great. LTCCC works every day to meet these challenges, and to fight for everyone’s right to good care and dignity.

LTCCC is a small organization, but the opportunities to help us make a difference are great. People in long term care are often very vulnerable. Frail elderly people cannot easily walk out of their nursing home when the care is bad. An individual with significant dementia cannot simply explain when they are frightened or hungry or uncomfortable. Few assisted living residents (or their families) know that different rules apply to different types of assisted living, and that these affect how long they can stay in the assisted living and under what circumstances they may be forced to leave.

Improving Dementia Care: LTCCC has been a state and national leader in improving care and quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementia.

Fighting for Nursing Home Quality, Safety & Dignity: LTCCC provides a strong voice for those who are, too often, unable to make their own voices heard to bring attention to nursing home problems, including abuse, neglect and inadequate care.

Working to Ensure that Assisted Living Residents are Protected: LTCCC is working to ensure that elderly assisted living residents can trust that their caregivers are well-trained and that their facility is accountable to them and their family for providing safety and dignity.

We are dedicated to providing a strong voice for the individuals and families who depend on long term care. Please help us to help these vulnerable people by joining us as a Supporter or Champion today.
